Aaron Describes Katrina

This is Aaron and I would like to introduce you to my wife. Katrina is one of the nicest, sweetest, most beautiful people you will ever meet. She has a smile that could melt the polar ice caps and make you feel you're worth a million bucks. She is very smart and would read the classics all day if life didn't pull her in other directions. Her laugh is infectious and she does it so much that it makes you feel like you're the funniest person in the world with the best jokes ever. I personally know that my jokes are cheesy but it never matters because she genuinely laughs anyway. I love her with all my heart and am grateful every day that she's my wife and she chose me.

One thing that I learned about her over the last two years or so is just how great a mother she really is. Sure, I could tell you that she is kind, caring, loving, patient and fun and although she really truly is all those things, I want to share some examples of how that's true.
1. Patient, kind, caring, loving: Several months ago I was sitting on the couch and she was on the floor with Austin changing his diaper. Austin was being normal two year old getting mad and upset that he had to stop playing and get his diaper changed. I felt myself getting upset at how difficult he was making her job right then and was this close to going over there and pinning his arms down and telling him to be quiet. That is not what would do though. Next thing I knew she was looking into his eyes, smiling, and using the sweetest, softest voice she could, she calmly talked him out of his fit. I remember just sitting there in amazement with how she handled it. It was reaffirmed right then and there that she is the example I want for my children. She is the mother I want for my children. I fell in love with her all over again right there.
2. Caring and fun: My wife works so hard to make Austin's life fun. Just this morning she spent half an hour just sitting at the kitchen table with him and two little plastic bicycles. Imagine spending that much time with so few toys and a toddler. She did and he had a blast. He loved it. They just played and played and played. Toddlers have short attention spans but that didn't matter because she kept him having fun with those two little plastic toys for a long time. She does things like that every day! I am constantly amazed when she tells me things like, "We played with cars and beads for two hours this morning." or "We played trains all morning." She astounds me. My son is a very happy boy and I know that so much of that has to do with the fun he has with his mother.

Our Story

We met while we were attending Brigham Young University at a Stake Opening Social. Aaron saw my group of friends on the dance floor and decided to introduce himself. After a few minutes of small talk there was an announcement that a dance competition was starting and Aaron ran off to join in. And that was the last I saw of him for 2 months.

Fast forward to the beginning of November 2006. I went to a movie night with one of my roommates to an apartment in our ward. Lo and behold, Aaron walks in. Having semi-planned this, he asked me if we'd met before. Having forgotten our brief encounter months earlier, I told him that I didn't think we had met. He very casually brushed it off and we watched a movie. After the movie ended we stayed up and chatted until the great BYU curfew. From that day on we were together everyday except two until we got married.

In January 2007 Aaron proposed while in the LDS Conference Center. He arranged for a friend and I to take a tour of the place and the tour guides made sure that we ended where Aaron was hiding with the ring. It was such a great sight to see him walk out and ask me to marry him. It was a beautiful moment that I will always remember!

We were married on April 28, 2007 in the Salt Lake Temple. It was one of the best days in my life. I love that I was not only married to my best friend, but sealed for all eternity. I can't imagine going through life without Aaron by my side. He is the perfect man for me and I'm so glad that we found each other.

After six years of marriage we are still madly in love with each other! We have had our share of ups and downs but most of our marriage has been filled with lots of laughs, lots of love and spending time together. If we were given the choice between doing separate or joint activities, 9.9 out of 10 times we choose to do something together.

We never fight. There are times when we disagree of course, but we are always able to communicate and resolve our issues fairly quickly and easily. The closest we come to fighting is when we get upset about who is serving whom. For example: I want some ice cream for dessert and I ask Aaron if he wants some as well. He jumps up and runs into the kitchen to beat me to get the bowls and spoons out. It turns into a race to see who can serve each other first. It keeps things fun!

Together, we love to:
Travel and explore new places - here and abroad
Watch TV Series

Play the Wii (Lego Harry Potter!!!)
Read
Go for walks and enjoy being outside
Play Games
Take Austin new places
